喜马拉雅山

　　喜马拉雅山脉位于青藏高原的南缘，西起帕米尔高原，东到雅鲁藏布江大拐弯处，东西长2,450千米，南北宽200～300千米，平均海拔6,200米。

　　喜马拉雅山脉海拔7,000米以上的高峰有40座。主峰珠穆朗玛峰海拔8,848.13米，是世界第一高峰，位于中国与尼泊尔的边界上，如同一座美丽的金字塔雄踞在喜马拉雅山的中段。

　　喜马拉雅山是地球上最年轻的山脉，因为它真正成为雄伟的山体仅有几十万年的历史，而且现在还在不断增高呢！

　　The Himalayas

　　The Himalayas, bordered by the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the north, extend from the Pamirs in the west to the great turning point of the Yarlung Zangbo River in the east. From east to west, and from south to north, the mountains span over 2,450 km and 200?00 km, respectively, with an average altitude of 6,200 m.

　　The Himalayas comprise 40 mountains which are over 7,000 m high. Qomolangma (Mt. Everest) is the highest mountain in the world, with an altitude of 8,848.13 m. Located on the border of China and Nepal, it dominates the middle of the Himalayas like a majestic pyramid.

　　The Himalayas are the youngest mountains on earth because they only emerged several hundred thousand years from the sea after great subterranean upheavals. Hence, they are still growing!
