秦　岭

　　秦岭的最高峰是太白山，海拔3,767米。另一高峰华山海拔虽不过2,000多米，但山势险要，有“自古华山一条路”和“奇险天下第一山”之说。巨大的花岗岩体组成的五个峻峭山峰(东峰、西峰、南峰、北峰和中峰)，像一朵五瓣的梅花绽开在山顶上，景色奇丽。

　　秦岭好象一堵挡风的高墙，横卧在中国的腹部。冬季，它阻挡南下凛冽的西北风，使南方受寒潮影响减弱；夏季，它阻截了东南风带来的水气，使北方降水大为减少。因此，秦岭是中国南北之间一条重要的地理分界线。

　　The Qinling Mountains

　　Taibai Peak is the highest peak of the Qinling Mountains, with an altitude of 3,767 m. Mount Huashan, though only about 2,000 m high, is precipitous, resulting in the expressions, "there is one access to Mount Huashan since ancient times" and "the first precipitous mountain under heaven". The five peaks, namely the East Peak, West Peak, South Peak, North Peak and Middle Peak, stand like a five-petal plum flower in full blossom. Mount Huashan has unique and charming scenery.

　　The Qinling Mountains stand like a huge wall blocking the wind in the hinterland of China. In winter, they stop the northwest wind from blowing southward, reducing the cold wave influence on the south of China; in summer, they intercept the vapor brought by the southeast wind, reducing precipitation in North China. Therefore, these mountains play a very important geographical role in acting as a dividing line between the south and north of China.
