朝鲜族

　　朝鲜族主要居住在中国的东北三省和内地的一些大城市，其中居住最集中的地方，是吉林省长白山麓的延边朝鲜族自治州和长白朝鲜族自治县。

　　朝鲜族聚居的地区山川秀丽，物产丰富，特别是被称为“长白林海”的长白山地区，不但出产红松、白松等珍贵木材，还有闻名全国的“东北三宝”：人蔘、貂皮和鹿茸。延边地区是中国北方著名的“水稻之乡”，那里出产的大米洁白如玉，营养丰富。

　　朝鲜族人住房的屋顶是由四个斜面构成的。屋内用砖或石板铺成炕a，客人来访时，要脱鞋进屋，坐在炕上。朝鲜族人喜欢穿素白色的衣服。男子一般穿白色上衣，黑色坎肩和肥大的白色裤子。妇女喜欢穿素白色的短衣和长裙。儿童喜欢穿颜色鲜艳的七彩上衣。朝鲜族的食品独具风味，泡菜、冷面、打糕和酱汤都是他们喜欢吃的食品。

　　朝鲜族是一个能歌善舞的民族，伽耶(jiaye)琴、弹唱、顶水舞、扇子舞、长鼓舞等是他们的传统歌舞。朝鲜族男子喜欢摔跤、踢足球等体育活动，妇女喜欢荡秋千和跳跳板。

　　朝鲜族是个尊老爱幼的民族。老年人在家庭中和社会上处处受到尊敬。每年的老人节，朝鲜族都要举行庆祝活动，为60岁以上的老年人祝福。

　　The Koreans

　　Ethnic Koreans live mainly in Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Jilin provinces in northeast China and some inland big cities, and the most concentrated areas are the Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Yanbian and the Korean Autonomous County of Changbai near the Changbai Mountains in Jilin Province.

　　These areas have beautiful mountains and abundant produce. In particular the Changbai Mountains area, which is called "Changbai Forest Sea" produces not only valuable timber such as Korean pine and kahikatea, but also "three Treasures in Northeast China" famous around the country -- ginseng, marten and pilose antler. The Yanbian area is a well-known "land of rice" in northern China, its rice being as white as jade and very nutritious.

　　Korean homes have a roof with four inclined planes. In the house, there is a kanga built of bricks or slates. When a guest visits, he should take off his shoes before entering the room and sitting on the kang. The Korean people like to dress in white. Men usually wear a white jacket, black waistcoat and loose white trousers, while women like to wear plain and white clothes. Children like to wear a bright-colored jacket. Korean food has special tastes, including kimchi (hot pickled vegetables), cold noodles, sticky rice cakes and soy sauce soup.

　　The Korean people are good at singing and dancing. They sing while playing a plucked stringed instrument called the kayagob. Also traditional are the water-carrying dance (carrying water in a pitcher on the head), fan dance and drum dance. Korean men like sports such as wrestling and playing football; while women like to play on the swing and do seesaw jumping (with one girl jumping up and down on her end of the seesaw to bounce up the girl standing on the other end, who will then return the favor).

　　Koreans respect the old and cherish the young. Each year, on the day of the Festival of the Aged, they hold celebratory activities to extend their wishes to anyone aged over 60.
